The IELTS Reading test lasts 60 minutes and has 40 questions.
You get one mark for each correct answer.
There are two versions of the test: Academic and General Training.
The Listening test is the same for everyone, but the Reading test is different.
The scoring system is the same for both versions.

Reading Passages – Key Information
Passage 1
A general academic text on a familiar topic.
Matching information, True/false/not given,
Short answers.
Finding the correct information quickly.
Passage 2
A more detailed academic text.
Matching headings, Sentence completion, Multiple choice.
Understanding more difficult vocabulary.
Passage 3
A long and complex academic text with different ideas.
Diagram, flow chart completion, Yes/no/not given, Summary completion.
The text is more complex and main ideas are harder to find.

The passages become more difficult, so Passage 3 is usually the hardest.
Common Reading Challenges
Many students find IELTS Reading difficult because of time pressure, unfamiliar vocabulary, and tricky question types.
These are some of the biggest problems students face in IELTS Reading.
1. Time
management
Students often run out of time because the passages become more difficult.
2. Finding Information Quickly
Answers are not always easy to locate, and keywords are often paraphrased.
3. Difficult Vocabulary
Some academic words may be unfamiliar, especially in Passage 3.
4. Tricky Question Types
Questions like Yes/No/Not Given and Matching Headings can confuse students.
